Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the half and full day classes?
Our full-day class starts from scratch with a piece of high-carbon steel and the knives are normally more elaborate, include brass bolsters and are often larger. Hunting, fishing and chef/kitchen knives are really popular. This class includes a morning tea and lunch.
The half-day class starts with a pre-cut knife blank that has some basic elements already completed. The styles are limited but still allow for some personal creativity with blade shape and choice of handle material. Grinding, heat treatment, glueing and shaping are all still required. However due to the smaller size and the more streamlined process the class is usually completed in half a day.
What is the maximum number of class participants?
The ideal class size is four participants, however we can cater for larger groups up to eight.
Can I bring my own handle material?
Yes you can. Using a piece of sentimental timber or antler is a great compliment to a custom knife. Be aware that handle material will need to be suitably dry in order to be used.
Do you provide antler for handles?
If antler is required it will need to be provided by the customer.
How long are gift certificates valid for?
