This 1-day class is an exciting and immersive experience designed to introduce you to the art and craftsmanship of creating your own custom knife.

Led by an experienced tutor and held in a well-equipped workshop, this hands-on class offers a unique opportunity to learn the fundamentals of knife making, from shaping the blade to forming and fitting the handle.

Requirements

  • No previous experience is required to participate in the class.
  • You must be of a suitable age (under 18 will require adult supervision) and have the physical ability to safely handle tools and engage in hands-on activities.
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) will be provided, but you are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes and long-sleeved clothing.

4 Week Workshops (Evening Classes)

Our evening class is a comprehensive introductory program to the craft of custom handmade knife making.

Whether you are a beginner or have some experience in metalworking, this class offers a unique opportunity to develop your skills and create a functional and beautiful knife. Throughout the course, you'll receive personalized guidance and feedback allowing you to refine your technique and troubleshoot any challenges.

By the end of the four 2-hour sessions you will have gained the knowledge and know-how to have made your own custom knife, something for you to take home and show with pride.

Classes traditionally run from 6-8pm on a midweek evening however these times and days are flexible to suit individual group needs.

SWAGE Repairs and Maintenance

We offer a general engineering and repair service supported by 30-plus years of engineering experience and a lifetime passion in woodworking and generally making and fixing stuff.

If you have a welding or fabrication job or something more unique - think of โ€œThe Repair Shopโ€ on TV - then contact us. That job that no-one else wants to look at could well be something we can help with!

We are also available to travel to jobs throughout the Waihi/Western Bay of Plenty area.
